The goal of the abiogenesis experiment is to create life from dead matter.
In a cruciform reaction vessel I let RNA bases react with each other, in the hope of causing a self-replicating, mutating chain reaction and thus initiating evolution. The reaction is hermetically sealed from the outside world and the reaction vessel is extensively sterilized beforehand. There is a wide variety of stimuli, such as laser light, sparks, and various mineral matrices, in order to allow the widest possible range of reactions to take place.
In the reaction vessel more than 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 molecules will react with each other, but the chance of the spontaneous emergence of life remains extremely small. It is a kind of lottery with a very small chance, but also a very high price.
